We brought probably the grumpiest grandad in the world here, with stressed parents and kids in tow - Recipe for disaster. As it was, the shop catered for each of us and the service was great. The shop owner is as busy as the shelves, but nothing could be faulted and we got invaluable advice as well as the experience, with the train set cheaper than a main retailer advertised it at. Hoping to come back many times - This shop is a gem.

The owner, Jim, is a very friendly and helpful owner. If it's not too busy you'll get a cup of tea and a chat! Excellent second hand selection that you can have a look through. A bit of an Aladdins Cave that reminds me of the original Hattons in Liverpool. Not the big one, but the original from 'back oil the day'!

Visited for the first time today. A well stocked shop, perhaps a little overcrowded but a very friendly atmosphere and an extremely helpful owner. An excellent model shop.

To repeat the comments bellow, an excellent shop.
Popped over today for my first visit and was really impressed with the amount of stock both new and second hand. You could look around with no pressure though plenty of help was available if needed. Prices were good too.
If you are in the area go and visit.

I have been into a fair few model shops in my time but this is one of the best. There are boxes and boxes and boxes of bits and pieces from buildings to wagons to locos to coaches, the place is fantastic. I would defy anyone who goes into this shop not to come out with something old or new. It's brilliant and the guys are great. I can't wait to go back.

Efficient service, bought on-line and received first class post. Well packaged item in good condition. Class 142 Pacer in GMPTE orange livery is now classic enough to keep running. Well pleased. Tony (Morpeth)

What a brilliant shop. A very extensive stock, lots of secondhand, and above all really friendly and helpful service from Jim. I think you could find nearly anything here, and Jim always makes the time to see that your needs are met!

I visit this shop whenever I am in the area (which is not as often as I would like) but I am always greeted like an old friend. The right balance of willingness to advise without pressuring to buy. Great stock range.

Found this wonderful shop while browsing for a discontinued and rare N Gauge Loco. Telephoned and spoke to Jim and he sent me a brand new loco the same day, excellently packaged, and accompanied by a personalised letter thanking me for my purchase. I wish Jim and the shop all the very best.

Have been there twice now and on both visits Jim has made me a brew and gone out of his way to be helpful. The place is a real Aladdin's Cave - stacked to the roof with bits and bobs and I'll guarantee you'll spend quite some time looking round. I can't see anything to stop you going to this shop - recommended - !

Today, I popped into The Locoshed to grab a few bits for the layout. I was greeted by Jim, with a smile and a hand shake. I have met him before but he wouldn't have remembered me. He made nice conversation before offering me a cup of tea. What other shop on this planet in this day and age, would you get that?! He gave me all the attention I needed even though he was busy with other customers (I think they were "live in" customers ????), and I walked away with a beautiful new Loco to play with instead of the bits and bobs I wanted. What an salesman!
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for a nice experience and obviously, I will be back.
