NEW Book - Crowsnest Chronicles by Roy C. Link
The author has spent many years devoted to researching and modelling the little known Shropshire lead mining railway known as the Crowsnest Tramway. From its early beginnings as a plateway, through the coming of steam, closure, reopening and on to final oblivion this railway has weaved its spell. In truth, it is a fiction, though many connections with actuality exist, which may be why it all remains so fascinating.
Most of the book describes in detail, how the modelling of the Crowsnest Tramway has evolved over the years in several scales, culminating in the 16mm scale diorama which is still under development. A full history of the mining operations and the railway, with references is provided, plus a brief history of the origins of 16mm scale modelling in the UK.

Cameras Roll Again

Studio Scotland film production gets rolling again on Part 3 of the Building a Model Railway series.
Cameras, including a drone, recently capturing a visual feast of G-Scale activity at the home of the model railway accessories company - Ten Commandments.
Stewart Menelaws, director for the project explains. We spent a number of days with owner Dave Young as we filmed his personal garden layout going through the stages of getting the track ready after the rigours of winter and onto multiple locomotive / rolling-stock configurations performing for a range of camera systems we put in place. Dave's pet cat had us in stitches as it regularly jumped onto the track and posed for the cameras. Part 3 is taking shape and will certainly prove to be a jam-packed production with a whole range of goodies for model enthusiasts at whatever stage you might be in the hobby. It's strange looking at the footage we have of interviews and family scenes at the Model Rail Exhibition Scotland just before lock-down happened. Do help to share our DVDs with friends as we embark on this latest production. Thank you and do continue to be safe and take care.

Closed Retailers and Manufacturers

Now I know this may sound strange but I have just added the names of closed Retailers to the A-Z listings. So people can see whether or not a retailer they may have known in the past has closed.
Up until now whilst I had details of all the closed shops and manufacturers back to 1999, I was never able to provide this information as I didn't have the actual dates when they closed. Now I have this information and can show these businesses.
However as over a thousand shops have closed in the past 20 years they would outnumber the 468 currently open ones. Hence the listings are limited to those that have closed in the past 3 years.
On a similar vein the closed Suppliers and Manufacturers have now also been added to their respective A-Z listings.
Best regards,
Adrian
