4th April 2006 - New Public Display Model Railway near Alicante Spain.
2006 will see the opening of a new feature attraction on the lovely Costa Blanca, in the hills just behind Alicante and Benidorm, nestled in the hills covered with vineyards, orchards and olive groves, carpeted with chamomile.
This big-scale model railway display promises to be a first in Spain, and one of the largest in Europe.

The landscaped indoor model railway planned by Peter Scott will have an area up to 30 Metres by 20 Metres with over 200Metres of tracks, and will offer express trains 16cms (6ins) high and up to 5 Metres (15ft) long. Consultant to the project is David Pratt,  professional big-scale model railway builder, currently appearing in the 15 part television series on the Discovery Channel – ‘Garden Railways’.

These highly detailed and realistic models of historic and modern railways are manufactured in Germany by LGB (Lehman Brothers) who introduced the G-Scale big model size in the 1960’s.
The trains, and trams, all make realistic sounds, can produce smoke from chimneys, even cattle noises from the live stock wagons.

There are ‘surprise’ features, including water filled docks, cable car system and a rack railway that climbs a ‘mountain’.
The displays will also include the more usual Double-O (‘OO’) model trains in various working diorama settings. These were all imported from the U.K.

The exhibition hall is situated between two excellent restaurants, and local Casa1011 Country House Retreat provides accomodation in nearby Ubeda.

The Pinoso Model Railway is scheduled to open Easter 2006. (See press for details).
Pinoso Model Railway is situated in the hamlet of Cullibron, 4 kilometers from Pinoso on the main road between Pinoso and Monovar 35 minutes from Alicante airport.
