24th August 2008 - 'N' Gauge Smoke Units are back in stock
Just 1mm in diameter and 15mm long these are truly microscopic proportions for a smoke generator. an oil reservoir is needed and they do get hot so do not fit them inside a plastic body. 10ml of oil and a syringe plus full illustrated instructions are included in the order. Ideal for small smoke effects in '0' or '00' and also as safety valves in '0' gauge.
At only £10.50 per unit and £1.00 per order they will be 'Puffing' off the shelves.
18th August 2008 - Welcome to the NEW First Class Trains Catalogue
As one of the very first customers to join Adrian Hall on the UK Modelshops website,
I am delighted that he has now designed this new, easier to locate and read catalogue page site for me.
Adrian's commitment and expertise have grown over the years and I must congratulate him on the sheer size and diversity of today's website.
Each heading is now instantly readable and any page can be clicked on to bring my printing and graphics into clear view.
If I have made any errors or omissions, I'm sure you will tell me and I will then get them modified quickly thanks to the new format.
Smoke and lights are my speciality and I hope that the new pages will show you how YOU can add more realism to your layout.

I say in my leaflets that I was always interested in new challenges using Smoke and Lights.
This little story is true - I couldn't make it up :-
A lady called to ask if I was up for a challenge and explained that she made 'Exotic Leatherware' and that her pipe-smoking male model was due to celebrate his 93rd birthday.
Could I provide smoke units to fit into a smoking pipe mounted on a cod-piece!
Yes I could and I also enclosed flashing red led's and battery holders with clear instructions on how to fit it and wire it.
I am assured that the recipient wore it proudly all night.

The moral of that story is that everything is possible and you never stop learning.
Check out my new catalogue for more ideas and inspiration.
| 6th August 2006 - First Class Trains - NEW!! 'N' gauge coach lighting kit using pick-ups |
 |
When I launched my first coach lighting kits some 10 years ago, I was asked by many modellers if I would produce a kit for ‘N’ gauge. At the time, I tried it but it took me about a day to fit and the result was not good enough for a commercial venture.
About 2 months ago I was asked again if I could modify my ‘00' Ultra coach lighting kit to work on ‘N’ gauge and I realised that it was not only possible but with the new Bachmann coaches, it would not be that difficult to do.
The tiny led’s were custom made for the project and as I had already pioneered the use of self adhesive copper tape to solder my ‘00' components to, it was relatively easy to fit these in an ‘N’ gauge coach. Even before I tried to complete one of my own, the customer had discussed the project at some length and persuaded me to send him the components for 7 coaches!
I then completed my first prototype which has virtually no rolling resistance due to the pick-ups touching the axles rather than the wheels.
To secure the roof after removing Bachmanns long securing pins, I have added a ‘Back door’ to the roof behind the corridor ends which is held in place with new brass door handles. Pull these out and the roof will pivot open to reveal the fitted lights. The prototype has not had the roof components painted white only because I wanted the components to be seen in the photographs.
The ideas, instructions, graphics and components are all tried and tested over the past few years with many modellers complimenting me on the clarity and quality of my instructions. As I only sell directly to the customer, the price is kept very low and competitive. I say competitive even though I do not know of anyone else making a universal kit which can be fitted in ANY ‘N’ gauge coach that can be taken apart!
My price including P&P is just £8.75 each |
