21st January 2010 - New Manager and New Year N Gauge Offers

Castle Trains are delighted to announce that we have appointed a new shop manager. Following a difficult end to the year with record sales and insufficient staff, 2010 is set to see our growth continue. We are delighted to have appointed Dave Wheatley, former manager of Antics in Coventry, as our new shop manager. Dave will be working with us over the coming months to introduce a number of changes, new ranges and improve the customer service so it is second to none.

To celebrate the new year, we have introduced a new staff uniform and some new offers. Whilst we always have lots of offers in OO Gauge, this year we also have some huge savings in N Gauge for a limited time, as well as our usual 6, 000+ items on the website which is connected to our integated stock management system.

This year we are also delighted to support the return of the Churchrail exhibition in Warwick. This small show is only half a mile from our shop and should be well worth a visit to see the 12 layouts of various scales. Obviously we will be there with our trade stand and lots of offers, so please come along to Churchrail on 6th March and meet Dave and some of the team (This May be your last chance to get some of our limited edition wagons with four almost sold out).

For details of other shows we are attending please see our website news page.

8th September 2009 - New N Gauge Limited Edition Wagons and Castle Trains Own Catalogue

Our latest two N Gauge wagons are now available and will be on sale in the shop, website and at all the exhibitions we attend.  Our latest releases are both Graham Farish 7 plank wagons for the Warwick Gas Light Co. and Walker & Rogers Coal Merchants, Warwick.  Both are priced at £5.99 each and postage is only £4 by recorded delivery.  Limited numbers of both wagons are also still available in OO Gauge priced £7.99 each.

Castle Trains has also been nominated for the Godiva Awards best shop in Coventry & Warwickshire for the second year running.  It would be great to see a model shop win, demonstrating that the hobby is thriving. To vote for us and the hobby just click here and be in with a chance to win a trip to Prague.

September also sees the launch of our 16 page catalogue filled with lots of offers, and great prices on current releases and pre-orders. To get a copy by e-mail please sign up for our website newsletter or see us at the shows for a paper copy.

We also have our best selling War Office wagons for sale Online with stocks flying out.  These are available as a triple pack and a single wagon, giving 4 different running numbers.  Limited numbers are still available of most of our other OO gauge limited edition coal wagons and new N gauge wagons should be arriving before the end of May.

8th January 2009 - New Limited Edition 7 Plank and Tank Wagons

Castle Trains are pleased to announce more limited edition wagons arriving soon from Bachmann in OO Gauge (N Gauge wagons will follow later in the year).

The wagons due to arrive next are a War Office 14 Ton tank wagon, available as a single wagon for £9.99, or triple pack for £27.99. All 4 wagons have different running numbers and come with limited edition certificates. In buff livery with red lettering, these are selling fast and certain to appeal to anyone modelling military layouts or periods between / during the wars. These are the forerunners of the Ministry of Supply wagon produced by Bachmann around 6 years ago and now highly sought after.

Following our collection of local wagons, we are pleased to introduce a 7 Plank Wagon from Warwick Gas Light Co. This grey wagon will add to the first 3 Bachmann and 2 Dapol wagons of a local theme. The Dapol Wagons (Warwickshire Coal Co and Warwick Coal Merchant, John Walker are almost sold out). All 7 plank wagons are priced at £7.99.
These wagons will be available on our website once in stock, but in the meantime can be ordered by post or through phoning the shop on 01926 497905. Existing wagons and the LMS Patriot 'Royal Warwickshire Regiment' priced at £84.99 are available to purchase on the website whilst stocks last. Postage on any number of locomotives / wagons is £4 within the UK (overseas at cost).

We hope to have all of these wagons in stock for the Leamington & Warwick Show on 17/18 January, but if not will have the pre-production models on display at the new Stoneleigh venue and would be delighted to take your order at the show.

17th February 2008 - Limited Edition Loco - Royal Warwickshire Regiment LMS Livery

Castle Trains in Warwick announces the LMS Parallel Boiler Scot 'Royal Warwickshire Regiment' in OO gauge.

Following the success of our limited edition wagons, we have decided to go for something a little bigger and commission from Bachmann our first locomotive.

The Royal Warwickshire Regiment comes in LMS crimson livery as it ran up to the 1940's when it was painted black during the war. The model comes with superb detail, which is clearly visible. The nameplate and badge can now be seen in the regimental museum at St John's in Warwick. We are pleased to be working with the regimental museum to reproduce this loco, which was named at Snow Hill in Birmingham in honour of the regiment.

The regiment, with Field Marshall Montgomery amongst its famous officers, developed a proud history and strong local connections for almost 300 years before being merged with other fusilier regiments in the late 1960's.

The loco, which costs £84.99 + £4 postage, is available to pre-order through our website (click the banner above) or can be ordered in person at the shop or by phone (tel. 01926 497905). Having had almost a full page in the last Bachmann Collectors Club magazine, the model is selling fast.

The last few of our limited edition wagons are still available on the website or in the shop, with supplies being down to the last twenty of a couple of them, so please do not delay.

All wagons so far cost £7.99 and the following are still available:

  • Dapol OO Gauge - John Walker Coal Merchant, Warwick
  • Dapol OO Gauge - Warwickshire Coal Co., Coventry
  • Dapol OO Gauge - Manton, Wigan Coal & Iron Co., Worksop
  • Dapol N Gauge - John Walker Coal Merchant, Warwick
  • Dapol N Gauge - Warwickshire Coal Co., Coventry
