Crafty Hobbies is now the largest model railway shop in the Furness area.
Our stock ranges include Bachmann, Hornby, Farish, Dapol and Peco. Due to space restrictions we cannot stock every item from every manufacturer, but we usually try to keep new releases in stock along with some old favourites. If you require anything we don't have, we can order it for you, saving you the postage and the worry about how the postman will treat your new purchase.We have also listed the makers that we don't normally keep in stock, but are quite happy to order for customers who require them.

| Crafty Hobbies has been trading for eight years and is now the largest model railway shop in south Cumbria. We keep in stock a good range of all the leading brands including Hornby, Bachmann, Peco, Vitrains and Gaugemaster. We have recently become a Dapol GOLD stockist so have good range of all new Dapol products. We have scenic items from Woodland scenics and Gaugemaster and a wide selection of building from the Hornby Skaledale/Liddle End ranges, Metcalfe and wills. |

Cumbria is one of the largest counties in england with very few model shops and is worthy of a 130 mile round trip to visit john and sheila at crafty hobbies. Nothing is too much trouble for this model shop and they realy do bend over backwards to help the modeller. Demonstrating and alowing us to handle the unboxed item is nothing new at crafty and willingness to order that special item is never any trouble. My girlfriend hates visiting model shops with me as I talk too much and for too long. She loves to visit crafty hobbies for they have items she is interested in and for once I am able to do my business while she is still browsing around. Crafty stock all the popular brands and is a Dapol gold dealer. They commission local po wagons from Dapol and attend MR exhibitions in the north west of england where one can always pick up a discounted bargain. I ran my own model shop from 1970 for over 25 years and john whetted his appitite for owning a model shop when as a young modeller he helped me out at model railway exhibitions when I needed to take time off to go for a meal or to the bathroom. John and sheila have a true aladdin's cave and each time I enter the shop it reminds me of my own shop, of so many years ago but crafty hobbies has twice the floor space as my old shop and it is still crammed to the gunnels. Not enough shelf space to show the all the goods in stock and so we find ourselves exploring throughboxes of modelling items that other model shops never seem to display or stock. For a indedendent small business crafty hobbies always discount their engines and rolling stock and lots more items as well. The discount is automatic and one never needs to ask for a better price as we know crafty have set their best discount already. Because john was a junior modeller himself he knows what it means for a youngster to visit a model shop and at crafty they go out of their way to encourage beginners and juniors my helping them in every way imagionable. Visiting crafty is like taking a trip back in time and getting the service we used to enjoy in the 1970s but added to this is all the modern electronic refinements that can be expected of larger companies. This is why I and many of my modelling friends go out of their way to shop at crafty hobbies. To sum up crafty hobbies in one word - perfection!

After quite a bit of comparison pricing for certain N scale items, I settled on crafty as having the best prices and straightforward shipping terms. They have quite a good selection of N scale items, the Online catalog is attractive and easy to navigate and searches effectively. I sent my inquiry by e-mail, as I had some questions, and received a polite and knowledgeable reply from the owner in a matter of minutes. I payed by paypal, and the owner got my package in the post the same day. I will certainly be shopping at crafty hobby again in future.
