I contacted the shop to enquire if they had a specific Hornby loco which rarely becomes available. Unfortunately they did not have one at that time , 3 months later they contacted me to say this model had become available. Having previously purchaced a number of Hornby locos both new and pre owned from janes trains this underlines their committment to first class customer service. It is highly refreshing to deal with a shop like janes trains that provides excellent customer service from start to finish .

I went to this shop a few months ago, I was very pleased with the amount of stock that the shop had. Whilst I was in there, a family was buying new parts for a scalextics set and the staff positivity went out there way to see if they had the items in stock, or on order. The staff were polite and willing to help. The female member of staff that served me was very efficient and would be happy to talk model trains with any customer for hours. I was happy with my purchases that I bought (3 coaches). The S/H stock is mostly un-boxed, but in good condition and stored in trays with 10/15 items in a tray. I am going back very soon!

I'm new to modelling and jane's trains went out of their way to give me very useful information. Even with my 101 questions they were able to answer all my queries and give me the needed answers. They have a huge range of N gauge which few other stores have. Its nice to find a shop with everything that I will need at a reasonable price. For the items that they don't have they will be happy to order for you. I would recommend this shop to old and new modellers alike. Staff are very warm and friendly. 10/10

I last reviewed this shop some time ago. I asked them to obtain some items for me and then due to receiving a diagnosis of cancer was unable to spend money on trains for a while. They kindly kept the items for almost a year for me. They also sent me emails checking on how I was! as a result my estimation for them has now gone through the roof. I also buy things from other, larger, stores and the experience is much less warm and friendly. If you like that sort of thing then that is the sort of thing that you like. I know that I prefer the personal touch and the knowledge and experise that janes' trains fantastic staff have in abundance.

Really helpful - I haven't been collecting for the last few years, because I didn't have anywhere to set up my layout, so I was needing advice. The staff were friendly, and gave me great advice especially on converting my layout to dcc. The shop is well laid out, and has a great selection of models, including second-hand ones which are definitely worth looking through - you can inspect and run the models too. Their website is also great for browsing their stock, and appears to be kept up-to-date. i'd recommend janes trains to anyone.

Jane's trains is a treasure trove of all that is good in the model railway world. Excellent new items, well maintained second-hand items and bargain boxes of bits and pieces. like the previous reviewer I have found that the helpful and friendly staff (It is nice to shop where they remember your name) are happy to put items to one side until your are ready to purchase. although this is a small family run business they carry a great range of stock and are more than willing to order in anything that they don't have. they have commissioned a coal wagon of a local supplier "C morrell & Sons" a number of which now sit nicely on my layout.

Superb "Old fashioned" Model shop. Not big nor hugely stocked but lots of interesting bit and bobs and staff who made the environment most pleasent and were happy to let me sit on the floor and fish through boxes of 2nd hand rolling stock ect. Service was superb and prices seemed fine. Recommended!

We currently have A LOT of pre-owned OO locomotives (300+!), so during 1st - 12th July *ALL* pre-owned locomotives will be on sale.
During this time 1/3rd can be taken off the box price, so there will be many bargains to be had!
Example: a £30 locomotive during this time will have 1/3rd deducted from the box price (£10), so will only be £20. A £60 locomotive with 1/3rd deducted will only be £40!
