With the model aero clubs now as good closed shops, and deminishing flying fields, there is little point in the general public who have an interest in Radio control toys, spending endless amounts of time building intricate models with no where to fly (or learn to fly) them. Bring on the 'park flyers'. Small multi channel heli's or aircraft that can be flown safely in the open spaces around our city. Fratton Model Centre have taken this on board and have stocked, with the spares back up, a good choice for all those enthusiasts who wish to join in the fun. Modern electronics have revolutionised the radio control scene with very light weight radio gear and batteries with incredible outputs. This has led to the Twister and Graupner indoor/ park (on a calm day) flying helicopters, all stocked by this shop. Also well stocked are various scales of boat fittings, all dished out by very experienced modellers employed by the shop. Corgi Aviation and other scale models of all military services can be found ther too. Go and have a look !! I resisted the temptation to buy a Sabre Helicopter from an on line auction some months ago and purchased it at about the same price but without the postage, from FMC. A few weeks after, the main elctric motor gave a little trouble and I whipped it back to the shop, where the problem was sorted swiftly and efficiently at no extra cost to me. Needless to say, I left the shop as a happy customer.

Fine as far is goes, with limited hornby & bachmann stock. However, the main focus is on other modelling areas, with not a lot of railway focus. Staff are resonably helpful, but it is often busy at weekends. Parking is easy in side streets mearby.

Went to this shop to collect a model for my husband, ended up coming out with loads of bits for my 16 year olds birthday. Warm, welcoming and right in the middle of fratton. Quality!
