I visited ashford model supply centre to get my son a train set for christmas as I thought I would be better guided by a local shop than at some big named faceless shop like toysrus. I found them quite easily and parking wasn't too bad on the Saturday. I entered the shop and was greeted by a friendly chap called ken, from memory. After I explained to him my requirements of a first train set for my 8 year old son, he asked what my budget was and then proceeded to show me what they had in stock, getting one or two of them out to let me look a bit closer. They had quite a wide range considering the size of the shop. He also showed me the accessories and other trains that he might be interested in, but I declined. I did however, take a card to pass onto his grandparents so they could perhaps get him something. They did but they cheated and got him a voucher instead. This in a good way, gave him the chance to enter "The aladdin's cave" Which is ashford model supply centre. This had a positive and a negative effect. On the one hand he got what he wanted but on the other, he wouldn't be quiet the rest of the day talking about all the trains, cars and planes in the shop. I can't see it being long before he saves up enough pocket money for another carriage or train and gets us to take him down there again. best points:- good stock friendly service good product knowledge value for money nice cup of tea! I will definately visit again with my son.
