My shop of choice for years, this fabulous collection of model railwayana is housed in a warehouse on an industrial estate not far from the centre of bradford. Customer parking is plentiful and safe though access is somewhat restricted to the car - buses are infrequent and the walk is long to the two nearest stations, despite being alongside the railway line. The entrance to the shop contains a small model railway that works when a two pence piece is added - perfect to keep children entertained whilst the adults talk trains in the main shop. The store is staffed by a decent number of knowledable people, so help and advice is never far away. Test tracks for a number of gauges are provided as is a repair and servicing facility. Trade ins are also welcome though, on the one occasion I have used this service, I found it to significantly undervalue the items I traded. The shop is full of stock - and not just the usual Bachmann and hornby. It has pretty much everything and is the only shop I know that sells 'realtrack models' off the shelf. Everything that most modellers will need is there and the sheer amount of it is stunning. 'N' and '00' gauges are heavily catered for with a huge amount of choice available. The shop also has a large selection of european and asian 'ho' and 'N' which only serve to broaden the appeal. My one criticism is that the larger gauges are less well stocked though the display on entering the store greets you with a selection of impressive 'G' scale class 66 locomotives. The shop website allows quick and easy access to all items in the store and is updated regularly. Despite being an independant retailer, the shop stocks a number of exclusives from the likes of Bachmann and Hornby which give it another dimension. The store layout is simple and easy to navigate and every item is on display at a glance - no trawling through boxes here. Indeed, I always come away from the shop having got what I wanted and, occasionally, one or two etras also. The prices are comparitive with some of the best value shops and websites in britain which make choosing frizinghall models and railways very easy indeed. it is, by some distance, the best model railway shop I have ever visited and will remain my shop of choice for some time to come.
