Hatton's Model Railways Ltd
Excellent service [just ordered], so now awaiting item. I had a query which was very quickly answered by return by Bryan White [Tks Bryan!]. I came unstuck trying to pay for my loco, for some reason the site did not accept my password, tried 4 times! when it finally did it would not let me confirm my address! [I'm an old customer].
Was it the site? me? or Friday 5pm??. However perseverance paid off [after 5 times!] and I look forward to receiving my loco next week. I'll still recommend Hattons - first problem in nearly 20 yrs so not bad!

Small quaint shop that's rarely open with no parking.
It is rare for the woman behind the counter to even know what day it is not alone help with your query.
Most items are 10-30% more expensive than anywhere else.
With all that said it is a handy local shop that at a pinch might just be able to help you if you're desperate that is of course if it's open.

[Response: "Reply to James from Macclesfield. I am the woman behind the counter and have been for 29+ yrs but not in the last 6 months as i have been having and still are having cancer treatment. If you had read the notice on the door you would have seen the opening times and they are also on facebook. So sorry my cancer has interefed with your modelling . Iris."]
Model Railways Direct
I have been an on line purchaser from this retailer I was in Bristol while on holiday and decided to pay a visit in person. Great shop with pleasent helpful staff and a tremendous collection of model railway stock for the size of shop well displayed and easy to access. All the major brands stocked but didn't see any second hand stock. Would strongly recommend a visit as you would be pleasantly surprised.

I've known Bill for a long time. Always helpful. Always test runs locos. Not the biggest of model shops but stocks a good variety of model railways (mainly British outline in 00 and N) and is happy to order anything more exotic if he possibly can. Please support him.

Buoys Toys & Models
I was so sad to leave Cromer not long after the model shop opened. A great variety of stock, well presented, and Dave was always very helpful. I started buying N gauge vehicles before leaving, and had purchased many bits and pieces for my N gauge project, and model boat project. I can only wish him well for the future.

I have spent many a Happy hour in this wonderful shop! The range is fantastic if you are after something a bit different! I've always liked the fact that Robin will leave you to browse as sometimes I've just popped in to have a look around whilst my car has been serviced. But you can always strike up a conversation with Robin and his staff and always worth asking if there are any special offers!!

Olivia's Trains & Models
Ordered another class 76, my fourth locomotive now. This was purchased in the Easter sale (we pay the VAT). Arrived to exact specification with perfect weathering. The model run perfectly and is now running as part of my layout as a double header with a previously purchased one. Thank you to all the staff at Olivia's Trains for good quality items at a good price.

Very much for the RC enthusiast with pretty much everything you could need for this hobby. Also a fine selection of balsa wood, limited choice of paints, and hardly any plastic kits. Nice roomy shop and well laid out. Short walk from train station.

Dropped in here 26th May 17. Good range of new stock from major makes, well displayed. Some continental HO available too. Second hand OO also available. Also has a good range of Airfix kits and Scalextric. Plus diecast vehicles. Pleasent staff with knowledge of the hobby. Will be back when passing that way.

Great shop with Friendly Staff, Mike has a great knowledge of scale Aircraft and has built a loads of them.
Stock seems to be growing every time I visit.
Yes they will spend time with each customer.
Yes they will open Boxes and show/explain the contents.
What they wont do is sell you something just because they have it on the shelf i.e. they wont sell a scale spitfire to a novice but will try and guide them into Joining a club and purchasing a more forgiving Aircraft.
I did take a micro Helicopter back for a refund which was given almost before I explained the problem, after looking at it for a while Mike then fixed the problem so I gave him my money back and went away happy.
Interesting Location on an active Airfield and with a Cafe next door what more could you ask for.
Parking is in the Airfield Visitors car park and there are signs directing you across the apron to the shop.

As 'Janes' is my local model I guess I'm a little bias, but it's great that it remains one of the last bastions providing services to modellers etc.. Alan's knowledge of DCC is paramount and he has helped fix several of my locos that where 'playing up'. If it's not in stock, Jane will always do her best to source it for you and phone you when its available. Well worth a visit if you are ever in South London, close to Thameslink station too.
You cannot fault the many years of excellence and knowledge on Railway, Scalextric & modelling provided by the team.

Northfields Model Shop
A very friendly owner who clearly loves the hobby. However I asked to look at the models behind the counter but was not allowed! It is like the owner does not want to sell the models. I came a long way and left disappointed with plenty of money I wanted to spend. A surreal experience.

Wheels of Steel
I was very upset when the shop closed but the service and range of second hand items is just as good online. My parcel that arrived, very quickly after my order earlier this week, was very well packed and the models were exactly as described. Well worth keeping an eye on for a bargain.

Only discovered this gem of a shop recently, but I will be returning lots. Open 7 days a week and with an excellent selection of materials and products. It's fantastic. No problem parking either. What more could one wish for.

Absolutely brilliant customer service from Danny at this shop via email and phone, nothing was too much trouble, encyclopaedia type of knowledge he has and was a very polite and understanding person to whom with his wealth of knowledge has given me more than I could ever hope for in completing my train layout landscaping as a first timer. When he said a date or to do a request or an order, he did it on time and informed me, and if he thought of anything that would help me, he gave me advice to that effect. If you want the best, then this is the place!

Modelmania of Bristol
After buying a brand new OO loco from Modelmania, I found it had a fault.I contacted the shop and by return email I was offered a return to the maker, a swap or an exchange and they were proactive in their follow-up service. Impressive and very re-assuring.
