Railwells is held in the wonderful City of Wells, the smallest city in England and caters for the enthusiastic railway modeller. As well as a number of layouts in the major scales (10), the show also contains Scalefour South West, supported by the Scalefour Society, and includes a further group of layouts to p4 standards (6). There will be a group of well-known modellers demonstrating various skills, and there is a full trade support. A warm welcome is assured to all visitors.
Forty years ago the Wells Railway was formed. Why 'Fraternity', a lot of discussion took place and no one could make their mind up whether to call the organisation a society, club circle or what; until Peter Haynes the Dean of Wells Cathedral suggested 'Fraternity', this word encapsulated the feeling of the members present and so the Well Railway Fraternity came into being.
This years Railwells not only commemorates the fraternity’s 40th anniversary but also 21 years since the first Scalefour Southwest, now an integral part of the show every year. |
