Erith Model Railway Society
BR Midland Region - 1950s-1960s.
Scratchwood is a twin-track main line layout that features a station, sidings and, hopefully, a working turntable.
It is the club's main N gauge layout built to replace Norvic Junction, which has been sold to one of the members and is undergoing a refurbishment. Like Norvic Junction, Scratchwood is intended to be a family layout, so during a show you will see steam, diesel, electric, and even Thomas & Friends running, depending on which operators are at the exhibition.
After a few issues, most of the electrics appeared to have been sorted, so now it can run trains. The scenery is now starting to take shape, with most of the buildings from Metcalfe card kits. There are still a few gremlins to be sorted, but it ran relatively fine at its exhibition debut.
The layout is currently in the hands of one of the members who is improving the scenics and running qualities of the layout.
If you would like Scratchwood to attend an event or display in your area, please do not hesitate to contact our Layouts Coordinator via the Contact Us page.
