Foxley Green

Network SouthEast, OO Gauge

Railway Sign

Foxley Green is a small village somewhere in the south of England in the late 1980s or early 1990s. At the edge of the village there is a small unmanned station (mainly for commuter use) and a separate goods yard (with disused cattle dock).

The actual layout itself is ‘built’ on a Hornby track mat and measures 6’ x 4’. It has been ‘designed’ to show what can be achieved in a relatively small space with set-track and very simple electrics. The name was derived from it being a member of the ‘Foxley’ family of layouts and was actually donated to us by a lady living in Slade Green (having been previously secured to a spare bedroom wall, albeit without any scenery).

The buildings are mainly Hornby Skaledale with the addition of Wills (station building and platform), Pikestaff (warehouse) and scalescenes.com (goods shed) kits. Most of the vehicles are Corgi, Oxford Diecast and Base Toys. Accessories are from a variety of ranges.

Rolling stock is a mixture of ready to run Hornby, Lima, Heljan, Bachmann and ViTrains although some has been weathered and enhanced.

Generally stock from the NSE period will be run, but as this layout was designed more for entertainment, there will be the occasional visitor (depending on what has actually been brought to the exhibition or possibly purchased here).

Foxley Green was acquired in the summer of 2008 and took just 4 months to complete (although layouts are never really finished, so don’t be surprised if you see additional scenic items appearing during an exhibition).
