January Show 2019 - Longfield.

Saturday 26th January - 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Sunday 27th January - 10:00am to 4:00pm.

The Longfield Academy, Main Road (B260), Longfield, Kent, DA3 7PH.

Travelling by Car:

Full set of directions of how the venue can be from the M25, the M20 and the A2 can be found towards the foot of this page.

There is some off-site parking available at a day nursery in Brickfield Farm just up the road from the venue (5 minute walk away), should we run out (and we usually do) of on-site parking.

Travelling by Rail:

Longfield railway station (5-10 minute walk from the venue) is served by trains from Rochester, Swanley, London Victoria and Gillingham.

There are no engineering works as things stand at the moment that would disrupt train travel to and from Longfield for the weekend of the show. Double check Southeastern Trains or Network Rail Enquiries for any doubts.

Travelling by Bus:

Arriva bus services 423 (from Dartford and Bluewater) and 489 (from Gravesend).

Go-Coach bus services 433 (Sunday only), 474 and 475 (all three from Bluewater) and 489 (Sunday only) (from Gravesend).

The buses stop at Longfield St. Marys Way, Longfield Brickfields Farm and/or Longfield Railway Station. All stops are 5-10 minute walk from the venue. Some services may stop at Longfield Academy itself.

There are no Sunday services for the 423, 474 and 475 routes.

Entry Prices:

Adults: £9.00.

Accompanied Children (17 & Under): Free.

Entry price includes free exhibition guide.

Sizeable free on-site car park. Please be aware and take note of the signs and the car parking marshals. Thank You.

Extensive range of hot and cold food and drinks at reasonable prices.

Large refreshment area - 300+ seats.

The venue is on a single floor, is fully accessible and has a disabled toilet.

Charity Raffle - In aid of the Association of Bexley Charities '78.

Featuring up to 35 layouts plus many other attractions.

M25 North Bound:
Leave the M25 (A282) at Junction 2 and follow the signs saying ‘Dartford, (A225), H, A&E’.
Join the A225 Princes Road towards Dartford and Crayford.
Leave the A225 almost immediately at the first roundabout and take the first exit signposted Darenth, Longfield, B260, passing The Leigh Academy.
Follow the B260 along Green Street Green Road, Trolling Down Hill, Green Street Green Road and Main Road into Longfield.
Longfield Academy is located on the right after The Chase and before Brickfield Farm.

M25 South Bound:
Leave the M25 (A282) at Junction 1b and join the A225 Princes Road towards Dartford and Crayford.
Leave the A225 almost immediately at the first roundabout and take the first exit signposted Darenth, Longfield, B260, passing The Leigh Academy.
Follow the B260 along Green Street Green Road, Trolling Down Hill, Green Street Green Road and Main Road into Longfield.
Longfield Academy is located on the right after The Chase and before Brickfield Farm.

A2 London/Coast Bound:
Leave the A2 at the interchange for Bluewater Shopping Centre and join the B255 to Bean.
Follow the B255 along Bean Lane, High Street, Southfleet Road, Highcross Road and Whitehill Road into Longfield.
At the end of the B255, turn left and join the B260 Main Road.
Longfield Academy is located on the right after The Chase and before Brickfield Farm.

M20 London Bound:
Leave the M20 at Junction 3, join the M26 and leave at Junction 2a.
Join and follow the A20 London Road towards Brands Hatch, West Kingsdown, Gravesend and Wrotham.
Leave the A20 at the second roundabout and take the second exit signposted Gravesend, Meopham, A227.
Follow the A227 along Gravesend Road, Wrotham Road, South Street and Wrotham Road.
Leave the A227 at the junction signposted Longfield, B260 (after Meopham, before Hook Green).
Follow the B260 along Longfield Road and Main Road.
Longfield Academy is located on the left after Brickfield Farm and before The Chase.

M20 Coast Bound:
Leave the M20 at Junction 2 and join the A20 London Road towards Wrotham, Paddock Wood, Gravesend and Tonbridge.
Leave the A20 at the second roundabout and take the first exit signposted Gravesend, Meopham, A227.
Follow the A227 along Gravesend Road, Wrotham Road, South Street and Wrotham Road.
Leave the A227 at the junction signposted Longfield, B260 (after Meopham, before Hook Green).
Follow the B260 along Longfield Road and Main Road.
Longfield Academy is located on the left after Brickfield Farm and before The Chase.

Bill Murphy
1932 – 2002

In tribute to the memory of Bill Murphy, former Exhibition Manager and Honorary Vice President, Erith Model Railway Society has introduced the Bill Murphy Memorial Shield, which is awarded to the layout that in the judges’ opinion is the best layout at the exhibition. The shield was presented for the first time in 2003 and the list of previous winners is shown below.

John Heath
1934 - 2009

In tribute to the memory of John Heath, former club member and well known modeller, Erith Model Railway Society has introduced the John Heath Cup, which is awarded to the layout that in the judges’ opinion has the best scenic detail.
