Puffer Smoke units

The smoke generators shown on this page require 2 wires connected to power source, a few drops of oil placed into the chimney and a realistic 'puffing' smoke will appear as if the locomotive was actually working.

SuperSmoke units

These units start smoking at only 5 volts and as there is a bridge rectifier and voltage regulator, you will have a full puffing effect from low speed to high speed. Instructions for these units are shown in BLUE.

IMPORTANT
Note that operating of Puffer Smoke and SuperSmoke unit will produce heat and could cause a burn or soften plastic. SuperSmoke units do get hotter than Puffer Smoke.
SuperSmoke units DO require all the components shown to be fitted to work correctly and will burn-out if connected directly to the power source.
Supersmoke units MUST be electrically isolated from the locomotive if the chassis is live.
DCC users should buy the Puffer Smoke unit and check with their DCC agent which chip and which
Pins to connect to.
Do not let young children play unsupervised.
Formula 3 oil should not be used on hand painted models as it could damage the finish.
Always test by putting a drop of oil on a surface which cannot be seen before long term use.

Other Smoke Units - Seuthe Type 117

This unit is designed to produce a smooth wisp of smoke without puffing so is ideal for house chimneys, waiting rooms and signal boxes. It can also be fitted below the track between sleepers to provide steam under a parked locomotive.
Note that this model requires 15 volts to operate
As this unit is made of plastic, it is easy to drill a hole near the base to allow a remote fill or extend the storage capacity.

Diesel Exhaust Kit

For the advanced modeller, this kit will provide the most realistic pulsating diesel exhaust that you can imagine. I provide the essential components and you design and prepare the air box to fit them into.
You will need plenty of space inside and the older Lima diesels are probably the best ones to work with.

Modern Traction Lighting Kit

A two part kit designed for Electric or Diesel Locomotives or Multiple Units.
The marker lights change aspects according to direction of travel with the headlamp switching off when reversing.
Comprising a pair of yellow marker lamps for each end, a pair of red lamps for each end and a powerful white led high intensity lamp for each end.
The kit can be used in one vehicle to correctly light the two ends or split to light the end vehicles in the formation.

N Gauge Coach Lighting Kit

At only £8.75 each these kits allow you to fit the realistic lamps exactly where you want them. I suggest in the centre of each seating group but the choice is yours.
When fitted, the tiny lamps cannot be seen without your eyes being lower than the windows and they produce the most realistic illumination of any lighting kit I have seen. the lighting is evenly distributed and without bright spots.
As the components are very small, they have to be held in place with a cocktail stick when soldering but the finished article will be a pride for ever.
Due to size constraints, I cannot provide a battery operated kit and they do rely pick-ups usually just wiping the axles of each wheel. I provide a micro plug and socket set with each kit to allow more than one coach to be lit from one set of pick-ups.

'OO' and 'O' Coach Lighting - Pick-ups or DCC

Available in '00' and '0' gauges these kits are available with Standard, Bright or Ultra lamps.
Standard are an authentic lighting which only show up in the dark or dusk conditions.
Bright are for the extrovert who wants to show the interiors even in broad daylight.
Ultra are the most realistic lighting obtainable where the tiny led's appear to have tiny lamps with a shade fitted. You decide where the lamps are fitted.
All these kits have lamps which have no lens thus removing that unmistakable pool of light which my competitors fail to address. I use a cutting machine to remove lenses from the standard and bright led's.
Components are included in the kit will complete one coach plus full clear instructions and also a micro plug and socket to enable other coaches to use the power from an existing coach already fitted with pick-ups thus reducing drag.

'00' Tube Train Lighting

Available as a 4 Car set or a 7 car set the kits provide 8 internal lamps per car and 3 yellow marker lamps plus one red tail lamp for each end car which switch on or off according to the direction of travel.
Full illustrated instructions and all components are included.

Buildings Lighting Kit - £7.50

With the lenses removed from the 5mm led's the light is no longer focused into a narrow beam and lights the area as a real lamp would.
The kit contains 7 standard and 3 bright led's which will illuminate 7 domestic rooms and 3 shop or pub interiors. If you would like to alter this ratio you only have to ask.
The kit comes complete with self adhesive copper tape, a PP3 battery connector, connecting wires and full clear instructions.
As the led's require very little current and run cool, they are ideal for this purpose.
Paper or Plasticard can be cut and glued to make shades and painted if necessary.
Don't forget that the Seuthe 117 is a working 00/H0 scale chimney that produces a nice wisp of smoke and does not puff. (Also £7.50)

Working Oil Lamps

'00' Gauge
The lamps are fair representations of the oil lamps used in the steam era and roughly resemble the LMS type. the front lamps have a soft yellow glow which is just enough to show it is lit without creating too much attention. See page opposite.

'0' Gauge
Fine scale metal castings of the companies distinctive oil lamps each fitted with a yellow or red led.
I have a few still in stock as I cannot make them any longer due to failing eyesight - please contact for availability.

British Railways Headlamp Codes

Seated Passengers

At 1:87 Scale they are fractionally smaller than '00' gauge but nobody would notice as they fit into scale '00' coaches most realistically.
With 120 different seated plastic figures you will not have the 14 seated nuns syndrome as there is such a wide diversity of accurate models.
Yes it does take a while to paint them all and I would suggest that you use matt colours and not too colourful. Perhaps you could persuade your partner to take on this task to allow you more time for the running of your layout!
