The Hobby Shop
I have satisfactorily used this shop for many years and have had first class service especially with advanced orders. Yes the laptop is prominent but that is modern business working and the proprietor is very helpful.

Arcadia Models
Quite simply the tidiest model railway shop I have ever been in. The models are displayed in well lit glass fronted cases and the stock is very extensive.

Going Loco
Paid my first visit to this shop from the normanton model railway show. The shop is basically the ground floor of the building and is surprisingly extensive inside. There is a model railway that has two viewing sides in adjacent rooms and you can have a hot drink and sit and watch the trains go round or test your new loco. The stock encompases all sorts of things including renumbered and weathered locos. The shop is also tidy, unlike many model shops where you are climbing over boxes of tat and junk. Quite a revelation.

Osborns Models
Living in the usa but determined to model n-scale GWR, I searched for a uk model shop that could provide most of my specific modelling needs. After weeks of checking out sites, I stumbled across osborns. I found a particularly full selection, an easy to navigate web-site (I could finally find what I was looking for) and helpful quick response e-mails when I had questions or needed clarification. I found prices to be better than most other shops (The 20% of for vat) helps a lot. I decided that I could buy new products here less expensively than used products on e-bay, helped by the vat deduction, combined shipping on multiple items and clear and helpful advice if I was straying from my target GWR & time period. A wonderful model store

Porthmadog Models
Possibly the best model shop i've ever been to, a happy return to the independent stores of my childhood, where the owners know their stock and are full of helpful suggestions (Including recommending the best curry house in town). anything they don't have, they're more than happy to advise you on how to get it, and full of ideas for conversions as well. honestly, as soon as I saw the frontage, I was overwhelmed by the dioramas in the windows, and as soon as you walk in you see the model castle (And surrounding siege), planes from the ceiling, and a myriad of other beautifully painted models scattered around the store. if you've ever anywhere near prthmadog and have even the most passing interest in models, visit this store. I could carry on waxing lyrical about it, but I feel if you actually go there, you'll understand why all I need to say is "Visit it"

The Signal Box
I really enjoy travelling to this shop, worth the journey as rochester is an interesting town to visit. The staff are really helpful and pleasant, the shop has plenty of north American stock which is my interest and the prices are very reasonable. Some might find it difficult to find as it's not in the main part of rochester high street but further east towards chatham( But still in the high street), behind ST bartholomew's hospital; in fact the border with chatham is only a few yards away. Parking is available outside shop on parking meters.

Northfields Model Shop
Paid a visit on Friday January 20th 2012 after reading the reviews Online. The shop really is a goldmine and the owner a genuine and friendly person who likes to help and doesn't try the "Hard sell". I wish him well for the future and I would have no hesitations in recommending the shop to anyone (My interest is in n-gauge).

Westons Railways LTD
Helpful and willing to offer advice, good levels of stock, all supported by a knowledgable owner (Andy weston) who is happy to spend time assessing your requirements. weve visited twice to collect pre-ordered items (Some 'ex-stock' and some 'special order'), which are and were delivered in a timely manner without fuss and free from P&P. Now stocking o gauge (7mm scale) track and some C&L products (Baseboard alignment dowels etc.), parkside dundas and peco wagons 7mm scale kits et al. and railway magazines too - excellent increasing range of stock. easy free parking and just off of the m4 motorway, a nice local cafe is also present in the garden centre (Which has something for all of the family - including a softplay centre!). A great little shop with lots of stock clearly displayed in a bright and cheerful environment and well worth a visit.
